People often ask what's the difference between a hot tub & a spa? These days not much. Originally hot tubs were essentially 1/2 a wine cask, with an external heater. As jets were added, the term spa began to be used. Today only a few companies are left making the original hot tubs, hence the terms are used interchangeably. In fact, the Internet has caused a move back to the term 'Hot Tub" since a search of "Spa" will more commonly result in Day Spas.
